Commemoration of 1754 Years of Gundishapur Legacy and the 70th Anniversary of the University’s Reestablishment

On the Occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Revival of Jundishapur University

On the threshold of the 70th anniversary of the revival of Jundishapur University—the oldest institution of higher education in the history of humanity and the cradle of Iranian knowledge and culture—and in commemoration of the rich legacy of Jundishapur, Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences and Health Services intends to organize a series of programs befitting the prestigious name of Jundishapur, with national and international scope and through the collaboration of faculty members, researchers, elites, students, and all those interested in the history and culture of Iran.

This event, to be held in conjunction with the Commemoration Ceremony of Jundishapur Science Day, has been designed with the aim of revisiting the scientific and cultural heritage of Jundishapur, presenting the achievements of seven decades of academic activity, and expanding scientific and cultural cooperation at the global level.

Accordingly, all educational groups, faculty members, and other interested individuals are invited to participate in idea development, content creation, and the implementation of programs and projects centered on the following themes:

• Organizing scientific programs, including conferences, specialized meetings, and workshops;
• Conducting research projects on the historical role and legacy of Jundishapur in the advancement of medical sciences;
• Holding festivals, competitions, and other cultural–student programs focusing on the heritage of Jundishapur;
• Producing artistic, documentary, exhibition-based, and multimedia works related to the scientific legacy of Jundishapur;
• Cooperation in scientific, executive, international, media, and support committees;
• Collecting the scientific background and services of various educational groups and presenting them in the form of oral history, as well as preparing artistic works such as photography, painting, busts, and similar items (featuring senior academics, written documents, educational and laboratory tools and equipment, etc.);
• Conducting interviews with distinguished faculty members, senior academics, and leaders of transformative university projects, and producing visual documentaries of influential and prominent professors across educational groups;
• Presenting artistic and documentary works focusing on the role of the university and its academic community in the defense of the homeland;
• Establishing the Jundishapur Museum of the History of Medical Sciences.
